Whilst we are unable to meet in person for prayer, we hope to provide some prayer points here each Wednesday that you can use in your own home. We are calling it ‘Prayerline – The Wednesday Connection’ and our hope is that it will enable us connect together and unite us in prayer.

Prayerline – The Wednesday Connection –
28th October 2020

Welcome to Prayerline – The Wednesday Connection.

Jesus teaches us to pray and to freely ask our Heavenly father for the desires of our heart as we read in Luke 11:9-10 ‘So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened’. However we’re also told by the Psalmist to give thanks for answered prayer ‘I will give you thanks, for you answered me;…’ (Psalm 118:21). Unfortunately our daily routine is so busy sometimes that we don’t take time to say thank you to God for answered prayer. Take a moment this week to thank Him for how He has answered your prayers in the past.

  • Give thanks for our drive in service which took place on Sunday afternoon and pray for those who chose to come along, some of whom would not usually be at our Sunday services.  Give thanks that God answered our prayers for many practical things, including the weather and that he even reassured us that He is our promise keeping God by revealing a rainbow throughout the service. Pray that even now, people would be challenged by the message and that God will continue to minister to them throughout the week.

  • Continue to pray for our online Alpha course and for the plans and preparations to get ready for 10th November. Ask that God will stir hunger in people in our church and community to want to know more about Him and take the brave step to sign up for the course.  Maybe there’s someone on your mind who you think would be encouraged by going to Alpha. Pray for that person and ask God to give you an opportunity to speak to them about it.

  • Pray for your children and grandchildren this week and if you do not have children then pray for the children and young people in our church family and for the next generation as a whole. They are living in a very image driven, anxiety heightened generation which can be very challenging to navigate.  Pray that they will follow Jesus, know his peace in their lives and pray that they will come to know Him as their Lord and Saviour.

  • As winter approaches and the days are short, dawn comes late and dusk arrives early. Please remember those who find winter difficult. Pray for those in care, or housebound, or afraid to go out because of Covid and ask God to bring to mind people you know in this position and to encourage you to get in touch by telephone or text.

In our Prayer Meeting on the last Wednesday of each month we focus on specific areas of our church and this month it’s our Youth Fellowship:-

  • Please pray that the young people who come along to YF on Zoom each week are taking away something and improving both their Bible knowledge and their spiritual journey.

  • Please pray for the leaders of YF as they think of innovative ways to communicate the Bible and also have fun with the young people and continue to build relationships.

  • Please pray for young people on the fringes of the congregation to engage and respond to invitations to join us each Sunday night.

  • Pray for the young people that YF is a safe haven and a place for them to get away from everyday life especially in current times.

This is the last edition of the Wednesday Connection that will be circulated at this time. The Session would like to thank Wilson & Amanda who from April, have produced this informative and encouraging weekly prayer resource, when our weekly prayer meeting was not able to meet.                Rev E McDowell
